I decided to start this blog to get me crafting more. I've gotten away from it for quite a while, but my dear friend Elisa showed me the error of my ways, and I've been slowly getting back to it.
Below is my first creation. I've been into quilling for about 4 years but hadn't done it in a while. This project was originally going to be a card, but it was too heavy, so I decided it will go into a frame and hang on the wall. I didn't have the quilling strips I wanted for the quilled roses so I made my own using my handy dandy Purple Cow 2-in-1 trimmer. This trimmer is AWESOME for making quilling strips. With other trimmers I've tried this with it was a bit difficult to get strips that were 1/8" wide. Not so with my Purple Cow! :) The larger flowers I glued two strips of paper back to back as the paper wasn't two sided. With the smallest rose, I used one strip and inked the back of the paper. I also inked the quilled birds after they were done to get the color I wanted them. The "stem" and the "leaf" I inked before I quilled them. Your options are pretty limitless with quilling.
